The Midas Touch
The main character is the head of the black market in Budapest. Monori was the king of the market place between 1945 and 1956. This great and seemingly invincible Grandfather secured the familys fortune and future but then saw his dreams destroyed - not in a struggle against history, but because his disappointing grandson, who had been sheltered from troubles, was incapable of carrying on traditions. Monori thinks he can buy everyone and everything but at the end he must face that he can't buy life.
